The Strand imprint, Harbonder, is pleased to bring you the next release in our Aural Mining Series featuring Martin Bonds aka Reel by Real. Martin Bonds is one of the most influential Detroit Techno producers and sound designers of all time and was a frequent collaborator with Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, and Derrick May. He’s produced many classic recordings, from “Aftermath” on “Detroit Techno 2: The Next Generation” (10 Records) to the Techno defining “Surkit.” Martin’s remixes on KMS as Marty Hardy are legendary. Martin also programmed sounds at Metroplex and KMS Studios that were used on many Detroit Techno artist’s classics.

Reel by Real delivers the goods on Aural Mining Three. “Rain (B. Bonds Edit)” starts with an ominous vocal on top of a swelling, tension building pad before a funky minimalist electro beat hits. Next up is “Untitled (Strand Mix)” with swinging electronic percussion and a face melting bassline underneath villainous, layered strings and pads.
